The nursing profession, although basically the same premise, differs widely in each country. What duties a Registered Nurse can perform in the UK are not the same duties they can perform in Canada, the US or even countries like Japan or Australia. Qualified nurses also assess the new technology and research for patients to make sure it is not only relevant but beneficial, adjusting care plans accordingly.
